Trail Highlights

Black Bear Pass isn’t the deadliest trail in Colorado—but it’s a close second. This legendary off-road route is not for the faint of heart, and one wrong move can have serious consequences. In fact, it’s so intense that the team at Offroad Colorado has only dared to tackle it once. Maybe we’re just playing it safe… or maybe we know firsthand how unforgiving it can be.

But with great risk comes an even greater reward. Black Bear Pass isn’t just dangerous—it’s one of the most breathtaking trails in the entire state. As you navigate the heart-pounding switchbacks and narrow cliffside paths, the landscape unfolds into a jaw-dropping spectacle. And then, the descent into Telluride—an experience like no other. Picture yourself in an otherworldly adventure, as if stepping into Avatar, leaping from rock ledge to rock ledge, inching toward the promised land of one of Colorado’s most picturesque mountain towns.

If you have the skill, the nerve, and a deep appreciation for nature’s raw beauty, Black Bear Pass is the ultimate bucket-list trail. Just remember—once you start, there’s no turning back.
