Trail Highlights
Halfmoon Creek is a must-see Colorado trail. It has everything one would expect in a high alpine off-road trail, including epic water crossings, rocky climbs, and scenic vistas. We love this trail for its mix of challenging obstacles and history, as it follows the path of old mining routes once used by prospectors seeking fortune in the rugged Colorado Rockies. Along the way, you’ll pass remnants of historic cabins and abandoned mining equipment, offering a glimpse into the past. The trail winds through dense pine forests, opens up to breathtaking alpine meadows, and eventually leads to stunning views of the Collegiate Peaks.
One things that makes this trail is the fact that it offers a great mix of challenging obsticles with an optional “Difficult” section at the end that brings you to the top of the Champion Mine. Don’t be fooled as this section has some very challenging obsticles that will test even the most seasoned offroader.
Lastly Halfmoon offers a great mix of everything you’ve come to expect from the Colorado mountains without having to travel far from cities like Denver or Colorado Springs.
